Priest movie delayed yet again, re-scheduled to May 2011

SuperHeroHype reported earlier that Screen Gems has decided to delay of the Priest Movie to May 2011 because of reasons unknown. The film was originally scheduled to be released this Aug. 27 before the studio decided to release it in 3D and moved it back to Jan. 14, 2011. The film was then moved back to March 4, 2011 a couple of months ago but now apparently gets a later schedule (mentioned earlier).

Priest is an upcoming futuristic superhero vampire-western horror film loosely based on the manhwa, the Korean name for comics and print cartoons, of the same name.

The film is directed by Scott Stewart and stars Paul Bettany (The Da Vinci Code), Stephen Moyer (True Blood), Lily Collins (90210), Karl Urban (Star Trek), Cam Gigandet (Twilight) and Maggie Q (Live Free or Die Hard).

In the comic book adaptation, a warrior priest (Bettany) disobeys Church law by teaming with a young sheriff (Gigandet) and a beautiful priestess (Q). The three band together to track down a band of renegade vampires who have kidnapped the priest’s niece before they turn her into one of them.
